Middle of the month and time to join in with Clare’s Share Your Desktop Challenge

On the Gaming PC this month we have a Sunset…

This is a screenshot from the game Fishing Planet. I haven’t played this game in a long time but loaded it on the current pc at the end of January. If you want a relaxing game that doesn’t cost anything and can be played using just keyboard and mouse then Fishing Planet is worth a look. Be aware that it loads from Steam so that will need to be loaded on you machine also. There are lots of add on packs that do cost money but they just give you short cuts and special skins to equipment that is already available for in-game currency as you play. Why not give it a try and while away an hour or so on the bank enjoying virtual nature. ps – there is a pay version called The Fisherman – Fishing Planet. That was an unsuccessful attempt to move from a live service game to a ‘DLC add-on’ model. Unlike The Hunter which transitioned successfully, The Fisherman did not and that version of the game is no longer getting updates. So stick with the free version!

On to the Photo PC where I have an old photo from 2015…

86627+86609 at Carpenters Road North Junction

…Taken from Stratford Walk adjacent to the London Aquatics Centre, it shows 86627 and 86609 on a westbound Intermodal service passing Carpenters Road North Junction. In the background, a mix of housing and office development was being built on the site of the old Stratford Railway Works – part of major redevelopment of the area continuing on from the London 2012 Olympics. The Freightliner Class 86’s are now a distant memory. Having been retired back in 2021, they’ve been exported to Bulgaria for further service!

  1. I am glad the 86’s were put to good use and not scrapped

    1. There are 3 of the class preserved in the UK and they sometimes work specials – I must try to photo them in action 👍

      1. I would imagine that not all were shipped out. Some history should be preserved

  2. Fishing! Wow! I love it, and perhaps Dean might also. Alas, his Mac needs a new battery before he could be virtually fishing, but that’s on the books atm and should be attended to shortly. I’ll keep this in mind for him. Both images are wonderful. Thank you for sharing them with me and (as usual) joining gin on the SYD fun 🥰

    1. Hi Clare – Glad you liked the images. I hope Dean enjoys the game if he gets to try it out. You start with very basic equipment but it doesn’t take long to start moving up the levels and earn the cash to buy better things. There are a lot of YouTube videos showing the gameplay if you want to check them out first to see if it might be worth playing. I’ll be back with more desktops next month 😎👍

      1. Thanx Martin, I’ll keep all of that in mind 😊

      2. Your comments stirred a thought in my head – Here’s a bit of intro… https://2e0mca.uk/2025/02/25/fishing-planet-intro/

      3. Thanks for that, Martin. I’ve booked marked it for my husband 🥰

  3. […] I posted a screenshot from this game for Clare’s Share Your Desktop Challenge this month, Clare suggested that her Husband might be interested in playing. I passed on […]
