…Strong late-morning sun makes for interesting patterns of light and shade. The train is on its way to Tring which is a poignant reminder that this station was the scene of the worst peacetime accident on Britain’s rail network back in 1952 – On that day a local service from Tring was hit from behind by an express service from Perth. A northbound express then ploughed into the wreckage of the first collision. There is a memorial plaque on the wall of the station by the entrance.
