Definitely not a jam and cream scone with tea 😉 I hope this brings out the dark side of Scone where the
Kings of Scotland were crowned. As anyone who has read Shakespeare and in particular the tale of MacBeth will understand, this remains a place of destiny.

This is a shot where I did most of the work in the camera – deliberately underexposing to bring in the moody sky and using the Fujifilm Acros setting with a simulated red filter. Camera was the X100F and the original exposure was ISO800 f8 at 1/1900th. I then ran the jpeg through the free Nik software to get the effect you see. Please note that Nik is once again not free as google have sold it on so new versions will cost money should you wish to experiment 😦

  1. The intrigue of it all. Love the photo! MZ

    1. Thank you 🙂 My Father being from Dundee makes many things Scottish very poignant for me!

  2. Stunning shot of a historical site! And I love the play whose name must not be mentioned.😉

    1. Thanks Sarah 🙂 My Son doesn’t like the play as he had to study it for his GCSE English 😉

  3. I scrolled past this last week in my reader, but it stuck with me, so I’m back to comment. I like this a lot, interesting that most of the work you did in camera, what I really like here is the sky.

    1. Hi Amy – I was anticipating what I wanted to achieve in the final picture. I could probably have got the same effect from a correctly exposed image when I processed it but the noise caused by the processing might have been more obtrusive. I have subsequently done a colour version from the RAW file for the Geograph website and I had to work quite hard dodging and burning to achieve something resembling normality 😉

      1. Yes, there is a lot to be said for knowing in advance what you want from the final version.
