Easy? Stressful?? – Definitely the latter.

I decided it was time to upgrade my blog and get a domain. This was triggered by an issue being experienced by my friend Debra in that when trying to reply to my posts she was faced with white type on a white page! I’m not sure if my theme was to blame or if it was a setting at her end. But as the old Obsidian theme was now showing as ‘Retired’ I decided to finally bite the bullet. I found 3 themes that really I liked and quite a few more that were good options. So it’s possible that this will not be the last change in the medium term. It’s just that this CastHub theme was easiest to modify and get working (despite the fact that I’m not going down the road of Podcasts!).

So this is by way of being a test post to see how it works. Lets try adding a photo from Flickr. Here’s Azyet passing a mural underneath a bridge…

As I’ve spent around 4 hours this afternoon tweaking the templates, I hope it looks ok to my readers. Some things are gone now. I haven’t bothered with the ‘Awards Free’ blog notice as I think awards are a thing of the past – a legacy of the early days of blogging. I haven’t added my ‘Wingate & Finchley’ badge either. The one thing currently missing that I will look at possibly adding again is the blogroll. But I’m not even sure that it is really needed now – Thoughts in the comments on that one please!

Anyway, hope you are able to read this and that I haven’t disappeared from your sight by transferring my site 🤞😅 ps – The images I post will appear smaller on the page – Just click on them to see a large version on Flickr 👍

  1. Now here’s the thing.
I didn’t notice much change on your post. The colours on my screen are still blue text on light grey.
The photo was the same size when I clicked on it but it is bigger in the Reader header
Losing the other stuff doesn’t matter I agree.

    1. Thanks for your input Brian 😎👍 I’ve now changed to a different preset palette. I’d be interested to know if that has changed how things look when you view and comment.

As for the photo, when I click on it, it opens in a Flickr screen so I’m wondering why it doesn’t do that for you? Of course, we may be misunderstanding each other 😅

      1. OK.
Now I have brown text on cream background.
The truck photo started small and suddenly filled the screen. It didn’t do that last time I opened it 🤔

      2. Thanks for the info Brian. I think I can tweak the colours and fonts some more 😎👍
