When a railway locomotive travels alone it is referred to as travelling ‘Light Loco’. Light Loco workings happen for a variety of reasons. For example stock in the wrong place after service problems. Going to assist a failed train – You can read of one such instance here. Sometimes it is for maintenance reasons…
90002 runs through Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station Light Loco on a Norwich C.Pt. T.&R.S.M.D to Crewe T.M.D. (E) service. Sometimes these services have some coaches for repair or maybe a multiple unit. But on 14th December, 90002 was all alone. This is a maintenance run though 90002 looks in fine condition, so perhaps she’s been sent collect some repaired coaches from Crewe?
