  1. Great entry and gorgeous photos Martin! Love how the Mercedes-Benz hood ornaments are acting almost like sundials.

    1. Thanks Theresa – a sort of mini project I did a couple of years back photographing Merc bonnets and grills in different lighting conditions.

  2. both wonderful shots, but the raindrops one is just gorgeous, well done martin 🙂

    1. Thanks Christine – and thanks to the owner of the car who clearly has it properly waxed 🙂

  3. Ah yes, that very familiar symbol! Great entry! And I especially like the one with the raindrops.

    1. Thanks Fergiemoto – I was pleased with that one 🙂 Perhaps I should have saved it for the R challenge 😉

  4. Mercedes-Benz are one of the great car in our industry. I like the first Picture. 🙂

    1. Thanks – I was intrigued by the blue shade to the shadow in that one 🙂

  5. Great shots. 🙂 You have captured the reflection in the first one & the raindrops in the second one so beautifully.

    1. Thank you Arindam 🙂

  6. I’m with Christine . . . the one with the raindrops is stellar.

    1. Thanks Nancy 🙂 Well, it does have the Merc Star 😉

  7. let me play Janis Joplin’s song from the MERCEDES BENZ for you (vocals by my daughter):

    1. Thanks for the song frizztext – very good 🙂 Can’t afford a Merc myself – think I’ll stick with the old Peugeot for a while yet.

    2. Appropriate response for the post, Fritz … the song brings back old memories of Janis Joplin. Your daughter did a great job with the vocals, and you did as well on your guitar.

  8. Very, very cool, Martin…
I bet Mercedes-Benz would love to have these…
they would work as covers for literature… or print ads… pretty much any kind of ad, really!
    🙂

    1. They’re welcome to use them as long as they pay me 🙂 It’s amazing what you can do with some ordinary daylight, weather, and steady hands. I wonder how much they pay their Industrial Photographers to produce the same type of shots in a studio?

      1. Good question, Martin!
Maybe you should send them some low-res comps… and a bill! Don’t be shy with all the zero’s now!
        🙂

      2. LoL – Perhaps not… A friend of mine is working his way up in professional photography – specialising presently in sports. He’s now working for an agency and that means that all the shots he takes at a match where he was working for the agency are not his to use or publish. Add to that the ‘bitchiness’ about which photographer stands where on the touchline (there is a very serious pecking order) and I think I’ll maintain my amateur status Bob 😉

  9. The contrast between your photos is marvelous, as it is in the individual photos … I love the raindrops in your second shot! 🙂

    1. Thank you Marcy – Do the Orples play with raindrops…? An idea for you perhaps? 🙂

      1. The Orples are opened to suggestions, seeing how EVERYTHING is new too them. Olivia is adventurous, whereas, Oscar, is more apt to just hangout and follow Olivia’s lead … which may be to who knows where? My second book includes a rainy day, now that you mention it. Thanks for asking.

  10. I have always believed that those things on the bonnets of Mercs are sights for lining up slow moving pedestrians.

    1. LoL – especially if they’re on a Zebra crossing… You get extra points then 😉

      1. And super bonus points for people with wheelchairs & zimmer frames

  11. The Logo of one of the best in the world Nice post Martin 🙂

  12. Total classic! I drive an ancient, beloved Merc. Nothing in the world like them.

    1. I’ll avoid the debate on this one Kate – very happy with my 206. I suspect horses for courses 😉

  13. Loved the second click!!!!
    Stunning!

    1. Thank’s Sheetal 🙂
