A couple of weeks back I had the pleasure of reading the first episode of Tony’s latest comic series Dave’s Dilemma. As a precursor to the series Tony included the relevant section of his previous comic series – 2011 A Rat Odyssey – which included this hilarious episode 🙂   Unfortunately in laughing at it once again, I upset the unwitting victim of the tale – Cedric.   Clearly we need to be aware that comic characters do have feelings.   So, I offered to email Cedric some Stilton Cheese to make it up to him.   Unfortunately my ISP,  complaining that the smell was corroding the server’s printed circuit boards and hard drives, sent it back.   So I’m having to Blog it instead – Hope that’s alright Cedric?

Cropwell Bishop

So here we have some Cropwell Bishop – a fine example of traditional Stilton Cheese from the county of Nottinghamshire.   Ripened for 15 weeks, it has a creamy texture and strong flavour.   The cheese is available from Waitrose and also from the Cropwell Bishop Creamery. Their website is very informative so it’s well worth a visit 🙂

  1. Now I’m really quite hungry….

    1. LoL – well at least you know where you can buy some 🙂

  2. What a ‘cheesy’ post. 🙂 Cute. I hope your ISP will live.

    1. I got into a bit of a ‘pickle’ while writing it 😉 I’m sure my ISP has back-up servers 🙂

  3. That looks delicious. 😀

    1. It certainly is Nancy 🙂

  4. You have more than redeemed yourself Mr Martin. Thank you for your generous offering.

    1. Cedric, You’re more than welcome after all the fun you and Barry have given me with your adventures 🙂

  5. I love Stilton Cheese! 🙂

    1. Me too Gracie 🙂

  6. That looks even better than my ‘cheese-flavored product’ in a can, Martin!
    🙂

    1. I can almost guarantee that it tasted better 😉

  7. Does Stilton go with Branston pickle (I guess so)?
Because there is an English section in our local Stop n Shop, and among other items on the shelf there is Branston pickle. It tempts me every time I pass by because of your mentions of it — is it sweet? sharp? pickle-ish?What else do you eat it with besides the Cheese??????

    1. Hi Judith – it will go with most cheeses and has a sweet pickle (almost chutney) flavour. It is commonly part of a ‘traditional’ Ploughman’s Lunch which includes a bread roll and a couple of types of cheese with some salad, often with an apple as well. It goes well with ham and other cold meats too. Don’t think it would be a good choice to have with hard boiled egg though.

The makers of Cropwell Bishop have a number of suggested accompaniments on their website. Branston Pickle is not one of them! – but I think they’re aiming a bit more up-market than a Ploughman’s Lunch 😉

  8. Yes and a nice offering too, even if
it is a tad stinky for the nostrils, indeed
it has a sharp and almost Zombie in
the Hood type taste to it 😦 lol

    Have a good rest of week now 2 e 0 m c a

And I too enjoyed that comic strip…

    Androgoth

    1. It’s a Stilton, it’s supposed to be stinky 😉 Fortunately, unlike some of those French cheeses, it doesn’t contain Garlic – I’m sure you can understand that I would not like it if it had Garlic in it … LoL

Glad you enjoyed Tony’s comic. Have a great week Androgoth and thanks for stopping by 🙂
