Today I sadly attended the funeral of one of my old work colleagues. It was very much a humanist funeral – no hymns or prayers, just poetry readings and music. My friend requested that this song be one of those played – What becomes of the Broken Hearted by Jimmy Ruffin…

It’s been a bit of a tearful evening. I chose this Budgie track to help with my mental state…

  1. I am sorry for your loss.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I can understand feeling a little blue. I know we don’t all share identical faith practices, but speaking only for myself, of course, my faith has been instrumental in how I am navigating my own grief. Since my husband passed last year I have been to multiple memorial services…I think I’m in that “age pocket” for sure. 💔

    1. Thanks Debra 🙏 Faith comes in many forms and funeral services have diversified to accommodate peoples different beliefs. I hope you are now finding your way forwards and finding comfort in the ordinary of everyday living. It was good for me to have a period of sadness last night and music certainly helped. Today I feel very much back on an even keel. It’s a bright sunny day with a heavy frost outside so I think I’ll give it best and stay in the warm to drive my trucks 😅

  3. Sad to hear Martin. Too many funerals this year

    1. Thanks Brian – I guess it’s going to be the way of things as we all get older.

  4. May his soul Rest In Peace 🌹
