First ‘Last’ for 2024! Here’s my entry for Brian’s challenge 😎

A mix of weather – a disputed frozen pitch – along with a family event and industrial action on the railways meant that I haven’t photographed a football match since the 13th of January. Last on the card of the Canon EOS 5D mkIII was taken back then and shows Ruben signing a young supporter’s gloves…

Last on the Card 5D mkIII JAN24

…A nice gesture – shame it’s one of the darkest places in the ground at a night game πŸ™„

Working forwards – On the 27th we took a family trip to Warminster and on the way home I took this shot at Paddington on the Moto g50…

…so I could send it to my Cousin Tina to let her know we were safely back in London.

Last trip out for January with the Fujifilm X-Pro2 was on 29th and saw me down on the Central Line at Liverpool Street…

…Heading home after a morning’s spotting. Expect to see a cropped and straightened version of this shot sometime soon! 🀣

  1. These are great Martin. I love the lighting in the footy photo. It shows the jersey, the kids face and those faces around him and the joy the faces have. It might have had context if you could see the pen and gloves but it doesn’t matter. It is a lovely gesture by Ruben.
If the rest weren’t trains or buses I would have been surprised. I love seeing them. Something I have never told you. When I was in High School, 13 years old, I was in the Railway Club. You could see a very large freight yard and a good length of the main lines as well. It was fun for a year but I wanted to try other things as well with my mate. We both concluded that some of the kids in that club were a bit weird πŸ˜‚

    1. Thanks Brian πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ – Here’s a processed shot of Ruben… https://www.flickr.com/photos/martin_addison/53463475339/ Still not great but you can see what’s going on. As for your youthful experience with train enthusiasts, I wonder what your friend would think of you chatting with one regularly? I hope I’m not too ‘frightening’ πŸ˜‚

      1. There were lovely blokes in the club. You’re OK and I like seeing all the different trains 😁
At least the kids faces are lit up more, but I like the low light best πŸ™‚

      2. I understand your thoughts on the photo Brian. I have to meet different criteria according to circumstance though I might personally agree with your assessment regards the dark vs the enhanced light. Doing a set of match photos doesn’t always mean showing what I wantπŸ˜… ps – I love you tooπŸ˜‚πŸ‘Œ

  2. I really like the look of the Paddington Station. I don’t know if I’m looking at the underside of the roof or if it’s an elaborate ceiling, but it is beautiful. And it photographs brilliantly! Nice work, Martin.

    1. Hi Debra; Thanks πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ – I can confirm that you are seeing the roof of the trainshed. You can see the view looking the other way in the photo of 800301 at the bottom of my preceding Spotting post.

  3. I agree with Brian. The lighting in that first photo shows exactly what you need to look at 😊

    1. Thanks Clare πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ My heart agrees with you both πŸ‘Œ
