Middle of the month and time to catch up with Clare’s Share Your Desktop Challenge πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

As usual, we have the Gaming PC first and this month a screenshot from American Truck Simulator which shows me heading south from Wichita to Laredo with an aircraft wing assembly. The sun is still below the horizon but it’s lighting up the clouds and showing off the recent improvements to the in-game skies that SCS Software have made with the v1.49 release…

…This is my Kenworth W900 – Named ‘Ranger’ after a US Aircraft Carrier because it has about the same turning circle as an aircraft carrier🀣Unusually for my fleet, this truck has one of the largest available engines at 600HP and an 18sp manual gearbox – which means it’s a bit of a poser compared to my other trucks which have a more typical choice of power unit for the type of work my company specialises in (Farming and Construction plant and supplies).

On the Photo PC we have an image of a Central Line 1992 stock train arriving at Stratford…

…Taken on 14th November – a very wet day to be out and about on the rail network. Most passengers were glad of the chance to get on a warm train. The 1992 stock is 30 years old and it was rumoured that it would be replaced with new stock similar to the trains currently being built by Siemens for the Piccadilly Line. However, cash-strapped post-covid Transport for London is now having these trains refurbished instead which means they will probably be in service for another 20 years. The first refurbished unit is currently on trial on the Woodford-Hainault section of the line.

  1. Great desktops, as usual, Martin πŸ₯° thank you for sharing these with me and joining in on the SYD fun. Wishing you and yours a lovely festive season.

    1. Thanks ClareπŸ˜€πŸ‘ Hope you have a great Festive Season tooπŸ˜ŽπŸŽ„πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

      1. Will do πŸŽ„πŸ€ΆπŸŽ„

  2. I like the idea of refurbishing the trains, at least when that’s possible. I think your interests were easily represented with your two photos. Very nice!

    1. Thanks Debra πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ Refurbishing is usually something that can be done. The trains on the Bakerloo Line date back to 1972 but have been refurbished a couple of times. It’s likely that they will be replaced by the same trains as the Piccadilly Line units but if the money isn’t there, who’s to say a third refurbishment won’t be needed!

  3. […] hope I have encouraged you to Share Your Desktop with me and I thank Brian, Deb, Cathy, and Martin, for sharing their delightful desktops with me in […]

  4. Oh, how cool!! I was on a train on November 14, but it was in York, not Stratford. πŸ™‚ I enjoy your simulator screenshots, too. They make me smile!

    1. Thanks Hudie πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ I spend a lot of time on trains πŸ˜‚

      1. Alas, there are not many trains where we are! The nearest station is a 3+ hour drive by car, and that train only goes one place! Not entirely useful day to day…however the scenery is spectacular, so it is fun to do once in a blue moon! πŸ™‚

      2. I get to see a lot of US train videos on YouTube and the scenery can be very spectacularπŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ Some day, I hope I’ll be able to drive in ‘Virtual Alaska’ as and when SCS Software add the state to American Truck SimulatorπŸ˜…
