Game Plan For The Month Ahead

August promises to be a very busy month with the start of the Football season and there will also be some family things going on. Then there is the ongoing Freedom Pass Project and associated days out Trainspotting. Throw into the mix some computer gaming…

So, it’s the Computer Gaming that I want to specifically chat about. Yesterday, we had an update to American Truck Simulator – v1.48 – which brought improvements to the truck physics, the Emergency Brake and the Adaptive Cruise Control. There were also some additional roads and cities added to the recently released Texas map too. A quick passing thought about the new truck physics – I swear it’s becoming easier to drive the trucks than it is to drive my car🤣 Anyway, all these changes prepare us for August 1st…

SCS Software have announced that the Oklahoma DLC will release on August 1st. The time of the release will probably be early evening in the UK. We already know there are 4 Steam achievements attached to the release. What we don’t know is what Community Challenge SCS plan to run after the release. Whatever it is, you can expect me to be very engaged! My Mack Anthem, Chance, has been given a repaint in preparation…

The Oklahoma code will barely have settled into its storage space when Baldur’s Gate III releases on August 3rd. Baldur’s Gate III is a Role Playing Game in the Dungeons and Dragons style that I have decided to buy. You can check it out on Larian Software’s site. After trying out a visual novel – Winds of Change – last summer, I will once again enjoy a different challenge to my usual simulations. This game promises to be a very long journey probably taking years rather than weeks for me to complete a single play through. I intend to take my time and I will try to write about the experience though I’m not sure how I will present the gameplay in my blog and avoid spoilers.

Way of the Hunter – Now my preferred hunting game. There is a new map set in Africa coming soon though I don’t know the exact date yet. This simulation is the place I go when I want a calming environment. Sometimes, you just let the animals wander past unmolested like these Golden Jackals in Transylvania…

…And even when you do have a target in mind, it remains a game of calm exploration and patient waiting.

The farming will continue on both farms – I should be posting an update from Bure Valley Farm later this week. However, with all the activity on other games, the posts will be less frequent – I’d hesitate to promise one a week even until I see how everything pans out.
